Breakfast Pizza & Topping Ideas

This post is really just for me to keep track of the pizza toppings that we have enjoyed the most. Since trying out Jim Lahey’s recipe – it’s fair to say that we’ve all become a bit infatuated with the simplicity of the no-knead dough recipe and enjoyed experimenting with a myriad of toppings. I will add to this post as we taste test our way through more medleys…and I would also appreciate any interesting suggestions? Duck, spring onion and hoisin is something I’d like to try soon, as well as sweet pizzas and a pizza Rosa (which I have heard is composed of the following – red onion, Parmigiano Reggiano, rosemary and pistachios…….. I don’t want to stray too far from the authentic Italian toppings and would never dream of ranch sauce or even BBQ chicken….I think as far as pizzas go, simplicity is often key.

  • Pears sautéed in butter and maple
  • Brie
  • Rosemary

  • Fior di Latte

  • Caremalised onions

  • Fried smoked bacon
  • Mozzarella
  • Parmesan
  • Egg carefully cracked into the middle

  • Smoked salmon or hot smoked salmon
  • Chunks of a garlic cheese, such as Boursin
  • Shaves asparagus and spears
  • Red onion
  • Chopped chives

    I still can’t go past zucchini (courgette), bacon, anchovy and cheese. Mmmmmm, pizza 🙂

  4. Beautiful. The caramelized fennel and sage one sounds so good! I have tested the no-knead recipe and it is easy and surprisingly delicious.

  6. Yum! Katie a few of our favourites are roasted pumpkin, sage and feta; asparagus, proscuitto and mozzarella; caramelised onion, thyme, anchovies and parmesan; and of course anchovies, olives, capers and mozzarella.
